Santorini Island

Santorini is one of the most beautiful Greek islands and one of the top destinations for summer vacations around the world. The island is known worldwide for the incredible view that it offers along with the reputation of the most wonderful sunset in the whole world, let alone its steaming volcano, the beauty of its villages, the black sand beaches, the friendly islanders, the donkey rides, the wild nightlife and the traditional tavernas offering Greek local dishes that will satisfy even the most demanding visitors.

Many couples decide to get married in Santorini and this is quite understandable since this Greek island is probably the most romantic of all, so they arrange to perform the ceremony during the sunset in terraces with breathtaking views or in the middle of the sea on boats or even next to the volcano. Santorini is also ideal for honeymooners or for those people who want to be on their second honeymoon. In every Santorinian village there are luxurious hotels that offer incredibly decorated suites with terraces overlooking the caldera or the volcano that would make even singles fall in love.

Santorini is an island which combines a lot of beauties so apart from the volcano and the view, sea lovers can enjoy the sun on the wide beaches of the island in Kamari, Perivolos, Perissa with their black sand, the red beach or other beaches accessed by boat. The water is clear everywhere and in organized beaches such as the one of Perivolos and Kamari you will find sun beds, umbrellas, water sport facilities, a lifeguard and many cafes, beach bars, traditional tavernas and restaurants.

As far as the nightlife of the island is concerned, you will find an abundance of bars, cafes and nightclubs in Fira, the capital of Santorini, the place that never sleeps, where you can dance all night till sunrise listening to the music of your choice. Villages such as Oia, Imerovigli and Firostefani also have some great bars to offer but they are definitely more calm and quiet than those of Fira. For the young party animals Perivolos with its numerous beach bars is the place. The fun starts early, around noon, many parties are organized and many famous guest stars are invited to play music or perform all kinds of shows while everybody is drinking and dancing on the tables and bar with their swim suits on, wet and excited.

Santorini is a place that can offer all kinds of entertainment to different kinds of people and it is certain that everyone who comes to the island for the first time will come again...

Santorini Beaches

Santorini is famous for its beaches but not because they are long, sandy and gold as they are in the other Greek islands but because they are unique due to their black sand and pebbles which is a result of the volcano existence in the island. Some of the island’s best beaches are in Kamari, Perissa, Perivolos, Monolithos, Armeni and Amoudi along with the white and red beaches which are accessible by boat.

Santorini Villages

The island of Santorini is full of beautiful villages with unique beauty, all with different characteristics, with friendly habitants, picturesque squares, whitewashed houses, churches with blue domes, traditional tavernas, cobbled streets and villagers selling traditional products on the streets. Tourists fill their streets every day, visiting the local shops, buying souvenirs, tasting the Santorinian dishes and drinking the local wines for which the island is famous for. Leaving Santorini without visiting villages such as Imerovigli, Oia, Pyrgos, Fira, Firostefani, Amoudi, Megalochori and Kamari would be such a waste.

Santorini Volcano

When we refer to the volcano, we mean Palea (old) and Nea (new) Kameni, two small islands of black lava positioned in the centre of the basin of Santorini. Due to a huge eruption which took place 3,500 years ago Santorini took its current shape and morphology and the results of the eruption are still apparent today. The myth of the lost Atlantis has been based on that eruption and the sinking of a big part of the island.

Santorini Restaurants and Bars

Santorini is an island famous for many things but especially for its nightlife and incredible cuisine. The restaurants where one can enjoy the local dishes are numerous and the bars where you can have some drinks and wild dancing are so many that guests usually have trouble choosing.
